Frequently asked Questions

Why do I need representation during my insurance settlement?
Your insurance company sends out an adjuster (whom they employ) to interpret the damage, and assign a value to your loss.  We offer a second set of eyes to ensure full accountability, and adequate compensation.

How do I know if my property has sustained damage?
If damage is not clearly evident (leaks, missing shingles, hail indentations in soft metals, holes in sidings etc.) you might notice work being done in the area.  More importantly, a thorough inspection by P.C.S., followed by a pictorial essay will give you the most accurate answer.

How long do I have to file a claim?
It’s never too late to file a claim. The effects of a storm can go unseen to the  average homeowner. Roof damage can also take some weathering before it exposes the true impact of a storm.

What if my roof and siding are old?
It does not matter how old your property is.  You have a Replacement cost policy on the dwelling, as part of coverage A. This means that they will pay 100% (less your deductible) of the loss, as long as like( kind and quality) materials are being used in the reconstruction.  They will however, depreciate the claim.  This means they will withhold part of the cost until the work is proven complete. The reason insurance companies do this is to protect themselves from paying in full to those who elect not to use the money for the reconstruction, but also to help the mortgage company retain value in the property as well.

How much will it cost me?
There is no charge to the homeowner above the deductible, unless upgraded material is selected in the reconstruction.  We do offer plans to assist with deductible payments.

What if I’ve already had my insurance company out to look at my property?
Call to set up an appointment with a P.C.S. field representative.   We will take into account all of the damaged property.  We will then sit down and compare it with what was originally settled upon.  If it is found that we can complete the work within their estimate, we will do so.  If it is found that they have overlooked or inaccurately priced items, we will directly renegotiate with the insurance company.

What if I’m not satisfied with the original insurance settlement?
Call P.C.S. to review the original estimate.

What qualifications does PCS have?
P.C.S. offers a unique service. We posses both: an insurance adjuster’s license, and a general contractor’s license.  This allows us to handle the claim beginning to end, providing a, “One stop shop” for property owners.  We have successfully negotiated, settled, and constructed over four million dollars in property claims.

What if I want to do some of the work myself?
Once the insurance claim is settled, a P.C.S. rep. will sit down and go over an itemized summary with the insured.  At that time you can discuss your personal needs.

What kind of warranty do I get?
Most workmanship warranties are five years per trade.  Specific product selections can affect the material warranty.

Can I be dropped from my insurance?
An insurance company can not drop you for making a storm related claim. It’s classified as an “act of god”.  They can however, drop you if you have a history of filing claims.

Will my insurance rates go up?
Your insurance premiums will go up.  Premiums will be increased for everyone living in an area that has been hit by a catastrophic storm.  Whether you file a claim or not, you will be affected by the increase.

How do I get started?
Call PCS at 1-877-PCS-0070 to have a representative come out to your property.
